Snacking has become a part of daily life, according to the “Snacking Opportunities: Building Better Snacks” report from The International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association (IDDBA).
The lines between snacks and meals have blurred, and snacking makes eating more flexible. Consumers have been opting for healthier choices and better portion control, said the IDDBA’s report.
“Between sixty and ninety percent of snacking occasions are at home,” Alan Hiebert, Senior Education Coordinator at IDDBA, said. “It’s not like they’re sitting down and eating at home. It’s not like you’re snacking because you’re on the go. These are conscious meal replacements.”
Better-for-you snacks with smaller portions or snacks with unique flavors are growing in popularity, and snack makers are using honey to sweeten their products and make every bite delicious.
